Join us for an evening of Nordic coziness and holiday crafting as we learn to make a traditional Nordic himmeli. Finnish ceramicist and jewelry designer Mia Suni, will guide us through different methods and styles to create a geometric himmeli using flax straws and other materials.

Originating from the Swedish word for sky or heaven, himmel, Himmeli is a traditional Finnish ornament, a mobile decoration that is traditionally made out of straw, or reeds in Finland. They are typically suspended above the dinner table during the holiday season. The old belief is that the larger the Himmeli, the larger the rye crop will be in the coming year.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet local artist Mia Suni and immerse yourself in this Nordic holiday tradition. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Mia’s designs and jewelry will also be on display.
